Building Momentum

Building Momentum

By 2018, Beautyfluff was in a season of steady, undeniable growth. What had started as a boutique spa had grown into something much larger, with a loyal client base, a thriving membership program, and bookings consistently filled a month in advance. The team included more than ten staff members, seven estheticians across two locations, and clients weren’t just visiting. They were returning, referring friends, and building long-term relationships with the brand.

It wasn’t overnight success. It was years of refinement, investment in customer experience, development of custom skincare products, and the creation of a tiered team structure that allowed estheticians to grow from junior to senior level through apprenticeship and mentorship. The business felt stable. Expanding was the natural next step.

So Yennie and Eric opened a second location in Flushing, Queens.

The new location was near the Main Street Library, in a busy, high-traffic area. The space itself was small—two treatment rooms and a modest lobby—but demand quickly grew. Staff rotated between locations, and the Flushing spa began serving many of the clients who couldn’t secure appointments at the original Port Washington location.

Within a short time, the schedule was full. Clients from Manhattan, New Jersey, and Connecticut could easily stop in while traveling through Flushing. The two locations worked together to meet growing demand.

But even during this time of growth, the Port Washington location faced an unexpected challenge. Next door, a doggy daycare moved in. What might sound harmless quickly became a constant disruption. The facility housed many dogs at a time.

For a business built around relaxation, the noise was relentless. On top of the barking, the daycare often blasted loud music to mask the sound of the dogs, sending heavy bass vibrations through the walls and rattling products on Beautyfluff’s shelves. The environment clients came to escape into suddenly required constant effort just to maintain peace.

For nearly two years, Yennie and Eric endured the situation while continuing to grow the business. But the experience made one thing clear: protecting the spa's calm environment would eventually require control over the surrounding area.

Beautyfluff's vision was to continue expanding. The team was strong, bookings were steady, and the future felt open. The Flushing location marked the first step in what Yennie and Eric believed would be the next phase of growth.
