Microneedling: Which Treatment Is Right for You?

Microneedling: Which Treatment Is Right for You?

There are many different kinds of microneedling treatments for different skin concerns, and it can be hard to know which one might be better suited to your needs. This article might help narrow down a few of the options we offer at Beautyfluff!

All of these treatments are safe for all skin tones, but might be a bit of risk for darker skin tones with mild skin problems, as Morpheus8 might cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), triggering melanocytes (pigment-producing cells) to produce more melanin and darkening parts of the skin.

Needle Depth:

  • NanoInfusion - Up to 0.5mm
  • SkinPen - Up to 2.5 mm
  • Morpheus8 - Up to 4 mm for face, 7 mm for body

Some micro needling treatments use radiofrequency (RF) energy, which generates heat. Radiofrequency energy delivers heat to the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production to tighten and firm the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. To prevent any pain, topical numbing cream is typically applied beforehand to minimize discomfort, so rest assured!!

  • NanoInfusion - no heat
  • SkinPen - no heat
  • Morpheus8 - uses RF to stimulate the dermis (generating heat)

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) injections are a type of treatment that use a patient’s own blood cells to accelerate healing in a specific area. It's a non-invasive and low-risk treatment because the injection is made of the patient's blood (done through a blood draw) which lowers the risk of an allergic reaction. PRP are made up of two things: plasma and platelets, and this combination utilizes the body's natural healing mechanisms. This platelet-rich plasma is injected into a person's face to stimulate or speed up the healing process. For beauty, PRP can provide significant improvements in skin appearance, including reducing wrinkles, acne scars, and other imperfections.

Long story short, PRP helps you heal and recover faster.

  • NanoInfusion - PRP unavailable
  • SkinPen - PRP available
  • Morpheus8 - PRP available

Now, you've gotten your treatment. Now what? It's time for aftercare!

For all three treatments, the downtime is the same, averaging about two days (with Morepheus8 sometimes more), don't wear sunscreen and moisturizer after finishing treatment to avoid irritating tender skin! Growth and healing serums, as well as hydrating products are encouraged. For Morpheus8, because of the RF energy produced, do your best to avoid the sun and tanning for two weeks before and two weeks after your appointment.

To find the treatment that is most suitable for you, book a consultant! Based on your lifestyle, skintone, and skin concerns, we'll be able to find the right kind of service for you.
