VTone Before and Aftercare: What You Need to Know

VTone Before and Aftercare: What You Need to Know - BEAUTYFLUFF

Pelvic floor concerns are common, but that does not make them any less personal.

VTone is a gentle, non-surgical treatment that uses electrical muscle stimulation to help retrain and strengthen weakened pelvic floor muscles. During treatment, a small internal applicator creates a series of controlled muscle contractions, similar to pelvic floor exercises performed with a little extra guidance and support.

VTone may be recommended for concerns involving pelvic floor weakness and stress, urge, or mixed urinary incontinence.

VTone does not involve needles, incisions, or tissue resurfacing, so most patients can return to their normal routine shortly after treatment. Still, a little preparation can help the appointment feel more comfortable.

Here's what to know before and after your VTone treatment at Beautyfluff.

Before Your VTone Treatment

The main goal before VTone is to arrive comfortable, healthy, and free from active irritation or infection.

Share Your Health History

Before treatment, tell your provider about your current health, medications, allergies, and any recent procedures.

Be sure to mention if you:

  • Are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are breastfeeding

  • Have a pacemaker, defibrillator, or another implanted electronic device

  • Have an active vaginal, urinary, pelvic, or sexually transmitted infection

  • Have genital herpes, open sores, cuts, blisters, or another lesion

  • Have unexplained vaginal bleeding or unusual discharge

  • Recently gave birth or had pelvic, vaginal, or abdominal surgery

  • Have a bleeding disorder or difficulty healing

  • Have diabetes or a weakened immune system

  • Have a current or previous pelvic or gynecologic cancer

  • Have significant pelvic pain or symptoms that have not been evaluated

  • Have previously reacted to electrical stimulation, latex, antiseptics, or another material used during treatment

We ask patients to confirm that they have an up-to-date normal Pap test and have shared the results with the treatment team.

These questions are not meant to make the process feel uncomfortable. They help your provider decide whether VTone is appropriate or whether another medical concern should be addressed first.

Review Your Medications

Provide a complete list of your prescription medications, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and supplements.

Medication changes are not usually required simply because you are receiving VTone. However, your provider should know about anything that affects your nerves, muscles, bleeding, sensation, or ability to heal.

Do not stop a prescribed or medically necessary medication on your own. Your provider will let you know if anything requires additional review.

Keep the Area Calm

Before your appointment, avoid anything that leaves the area irritated, sore, or broken.

This may include:

  • Douching

  • Fragranced intimate washes or sprays

  • Harsh soaps

  • Unapproved vaginal creams or suppositories

  • Waxing or depilatory creams

  • Aggressive shaving that causes cuts or razor burn

Contact Beautyfluff if you develop itching, burning, sores, a rash, unusual discharge, urinary symptoms, or another possible sign of infection before treatment. Waiting until the area feels healthy and comfortable gives you a much better starting point.

Let Us Know if You Are Menstruating

Tell us if your period begins close to your appointment. Your provider may recommend rescheduling for comfort and easier treatment. Remove any tampon or menstrual cup before arriving.

The Day of Your Appointment

Shower normally and arrive with the area clean.

Do not apply creams, oils, powders, perfumes, deodorizing sprays, or fragranced products to the treatment area.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing and breathable underwear. It may also help to:

  • Eat and drink normally unless instructed otherwise

  • Bring an updated medication list

  • Tell your provider about any new symptoms or health changes

  • Use the restroom and empty your bladder shortly before treatment

Emptying your bladder can help you feel more relaxed and comfortable during the session. Before treatment begins, your provider will explain the applicator and give you an opportunity to ask questions.

What Does VTone Feel Like?

During treatment, a small applicator is placed internally and delivers electrical stimulation to the pelvic floor muscles. You will feel the muscles repeatedly contract and release. The sensation may feel unusual at first, but it should remain manageable rather than painful.

The intensity can be adjusted according to your comfort and muscle response. Tell your provider immediately if you experience:

  • Sharp or significant pain

  • Intense burning

  • Severe cramping

  • Numbness

  • A sudden uncomfortable pressure

  • Any sensation that concerns you

There is no benefit to quietly tolerating pain. Letting your provider know allows the settings or applicator position to be adjusted.

A typical appointment takes approximately 30 minutes.

What to Expect After VTone

Most patients can return to their usual daily activities after treatment.

Because VTone causes repeated muscle contractions, the pelvic floor may temporarily feel as though it has completed a workout.

You may notice:

  • Mild pelvic muscle fatigue

  • Light cramping or soreness

  • Temporary tenderness

  • Mild swelling or irritation

  • Light spotting

  • A small amount of watery discharge

These effects should generally be mild and improve on their own.

VTone Aftercare

VTone aftercare is usually very simple.

Listen to Your Body

Light daily activity is generally fine after treatment.

If your pelvic floor feels tired, sore, or crampy, take things a little more gently for the rest of the day. You may prefer to postpone an intense workout until the muscles feel comfortable again.

There is no need to push through soreness simply because VTone is described as having no downtime.

Keep Hygiene Gentle

Wash the external area normally with lukewarm water and, if needed, a mild fragrance-free cleanser.

Avoid douching or placing soap inside the vagina. You should also avoid heavily fragranced intimate products if the area feels sensitive.

Pat the area dry rather than rubbing it, and change out of damp or sweaty clothing promptly.

A panty liner may be helpful if you experience mild spotting or discharge.

Wait if the Area Feels Tender

There is not usually a lengthy pelvic-rest period after VTone.

However, if you experience tenderness, cramping, spotting, or irritation, it may be more comfortable to wait before using:

  • Tampons or menstrual cups

  • Internal sex toys

  • Vaginal suppositories

  • Other internal products

  • Having vaginal intercourse

Resume these activities when the area feels comfortable, and any spotting or unusual discharge has settled, unless your provider gives you a more specific timeframe.

Your body is allowed to ask for a quiet evening.

Use Only Approved Products

Do not insert a new vaginal moisturizer, medication, hormone product, or suppository immediately after treatment unless it has been approved by your provider.

You may generally continue medically necessary products according to your usual instructions, but let your provider know what you use before treatment.

Be Careful With Pain Medication

Mild muscle soreness or cramping should improve with time.

Ask your provider which over-the-counter pain reliever is appropriate for you if needed. Do not begin, stop, or alter a prescribed medication based only on general aftercare guidance.

When Should You Contact Beautyfluff?

Contact the clinic if you experience:

  • Severe or worsening pain

  • Significant or increasing swelling

  • Persistent burning

  • Heavy or continued bleeding

  • Fever, chills, or feeling unwell

  • Pus or foul-smelling discharge

  • Increasing redness or warmth

  • Blisters, burns, open sores, or damaged skin

  • A herpes outbreak

  • Persistent pain during urination

  • Difficulty emptying your bladder

  • Symptoms that worsen rather than gradually improve

  • Any reaction that feels unusual or concerning

Mild muscle fatigue is understandable. Severe pain, burns, infection symptoms, or worsening swelling are not reactions you should simply wait out.

Seek urgent medical care for severe bleeding, an inability to urinate, difficulty breathing, fainting, or another rapidly developing serious reaction.

Following Your Treatment Plan

Pelvic floor strengthening takes time.

VTone is usually performed as a series rather than a single appointment, and your provider will recommend a schedule based on your symptoms, muscle response, and goals. Some patients may also benefit from maintenance sessions over time.

Try not to judge your progress immediately after the first treatment. Muscle rehabilitation is gradual, and every person responds differently.

Continue any pelvic floor exercises, medical care, or physical therapy recommended by your healthcare team. VTone is designed to support your broader care plan rather than replace evaluation and treatment for an underlying medical condition.

Conclusion

Preparing for VTone is really simple. Arrive with the area clean, empty your bladder before treatment, and give your provider a complete picture of your health, medications, symptoms, and medical history.

Afterward, return to your routine at a pace that feels comfortable. Mild pelvic muscle fatigue or cramping may occur, but most patients require little to no downtime. Keep hygiene gentle and wait before internal activity if the area feels tender or irritated.
