Building Momentum

Building Momentum

By 2018, Beautyfluff was no longer just an idea that had managed to survive. It was growing. What had started as a boutique spa had become something much larger, with a loyal client base, a thriving membership program, and bookings consistently filled a month in advance. The team had grown to more than ten staff members, including seven estheticians across two locations, and clients weren’t just visiting once. They were returning, referring friends, and building real relationships with the brand.

That kind of growth hadn’t happened overnight. It came from years of refining the client experience, developing custom skincare products, and building a tiered team structure that allowed estheticians to grow from junior to senior level through apprenticeship and mentorship. By then, the business felt steady. Expansion no longer felt risky. It felt like the natural next step.

So Yennie and Eric opened a second location in Flushing, Queens.

The space was near the Main Street Library, in a busy, high-traffic area. It wasn’t large, just two treatment rooms and a modest lobby, but demand quickly made up for what the space lacked in size. Staff rotated between locations, and the Flushing spa began serving many of the clients who couldn’t secure appointments at the original Port Washington location.

Within a short time, the schedule was full. Clients from Manhattan, New Jersey, and Connecticut could stop in while passing through Flushing, and the two locations began working together to meet growing demand.

Even then, growth wasn’t without friction. At the Port Washington location, a neighboring doggy daycare became a constant disruption. The barking carried through the walls for hours, and the daycare often blasted loud music to cover the sound, sending bass vibrations through the spa and rattling products on the shelves. For a business built around quiet care and relaxation, it was a daily contradiction.

Still, Beautyfluff kept growing.

For nearly two years, Yennie and Eric worked around the disruption while continuing to expand the business. By then, the team was strong, bookings were steady, and the future felt open. The Flushing location marked the beginning of what they believed would be the next phase of Beautyfluff.

None of it felt fragile then. It felt earned, stable, and full of possibility.
